Back home

We are back home and at this point nothing new to tell.  The drive home was smooth.  Laundry and shopping and back to the normal routine.  Kia is happy to be home as well!

A day at the outlets

Friday we did a lot of joy riding....just was nice.  One Saturday we wanted to go to this huge farmers/flea market, just to find out that no dogs are allowed.  So we drove all the way to Lakeland and then some.  I didn't take pictures, just enjoyed the area and the sun.
Today we decided to visit the outlet.  It was a pretty big mall and we enjoyed walking around.  Kia was in the stroller the whole time and she loved it.  Dinner at the food court.  We ate outside and it was actually pretty good.  Stromboli, salad and a Pepsi.
On the road  we saw an air boat and a truck with a huge lift.

St. Armonds - Sarasota

86 degrees!  That was on the way to Sarasota.  It later climbed up to 89 later.  We walked the whole circle.  What a different clientele.  Also nice it to be able to window shop.  Gorgeous clothes on the mannequins in the windows.  Some very high in price, some mid-range.  All in all...just beautiful.  Every restaurant has outside tables and most of them taken. I couldn't resist and had an ice cream cone from Kilwins.  Absolutely the best!  Maybe even better than Cold Stone's.

Apollo Beach

I googled for a beach that allows dogs and Apollo Beach was the one that is not too far.  We are no 'beach people' so we just wandered around.  I tried to get Kia to into the water, but she didn't like it at all.  I picker her up and just put her into an inch high water and she ran straight back to the dry sand.  Too funny though.
On the way home we stopped at Walmart; got a sub for dinner and replenished our water and beer supply.
When we got back to the hotel, I went down to the whirlpool for about 15 minutes and then 2 laps in the pool and back to the whirlpool for another 5 minutes.

I do love Florida!

OMG...the sun, the palms, did I mention the sun?  The temperatures.....sigh....
Today we went to see the Manatees at the Manatee viewing center.  We were not allowed in with Kia, even in the stroller.  Since we were there already, I went down the path to take some pictures and into the store to get some souvenirs for the grandkids.  There were a lot of manatees today and I wished that they would have allowed us to bring Kia in the stroller.  I guess a rule is a rule.  It was great anyway.

After the visit at the Manatee Viewing Center we took a ride to our favorite park 'Little Manatee'.  We camped quite a few times there.  So pretty....
Then we went on to visit our other very favorite campground Myakka River.  We said 'hello' to the hosts that have been there for many years and then we walked around to see the Outpost and other path that we loved.  On the back, still within the park, we stopped at the bridge where always a lot of gators are hanging out.  Under that bridge was a huge....yes...real huge one.  Unfortunately, he didn't come out all the way, so I only got he head peaking out.

The mall

We went to Petco because Kia needed a bath.  Two hours later we picked her up and took her to the Westfield Brandon mall.  It is a very pretty mall with a lot of great store and lots of daylight due to glass ceilings and lots of walking.  Once again I am grateful for Kia's stroller.

Shirley and John

We had a great day seeing our friends Shirley and John from Fantasy Island.  Shirley made a great rib dinner and we had the most delicious brownie for dessert.  It was a great afternoon!

Fort de Soto

Finally!  The day was gorgeous!  Two days ago it was so cold that we didn't even bother leaving the hotel.  Yester, Peter was so sick, that he didn't want to go any place.  So I took off and got a pedicure and on the way home I picked up subs.
Today we enjoyed the day at Fort de Soto.  We were there before, a few years back.  It's a great place to visit.

Clearwater Beach

What is it with when ever we come to Florida it is cold?  48 degrees.....are friggin' kidding me?  WTF?!?!?
Anyway...on a more positive site, it's not 32 degrees and it's going to be in the 70ties day after tomorrow.
I just wanted to see the beach and maybe, just maybe put my feet real quick in the water.  Forget about that!  So we just looked, I took a few pictures and we left again. Went to Target and got wine and beer and relax in our room for the rest of the day.

Our first day in Brandon Florida

We left Sunday, arrived 9 hours later in Fayetteville NC.  Nice hotel!  Very clean and pleasant.  We arrived at our hotel (La Quinta) yesterday totally exhausted.  It was a 10+ ride due to traffic congestions.  It was bad.
Very tired we arrived at the hotel, checked in and saw our room....oh boy....
Let me start with saying that I am very disappointed.
1. The first thing I was told that because I got a weekly rate, I only get housekeeping only twice a week.  I was not told that at the time of the reservation. We are on vacation....why would I want to make my bed?  Empty garbage and run down to the desk to ask for fresh towels?
2. We asked for a 1st floor room because it is easier to take out the dog.  We got a first floor room.  After we unpacked most of the things we noticed that the fridge still had food in from prior guests and the fridge was not working. Totally unacceptable.
I went to the front desk to tell the receptionist and she came to the room to check it.  The outlet was behind the dresser, which we pulled away.  At this point we were greeted by roaches that were hiding behind the dresser. The receptionist saw it and told us she will look for another room for us. She told us that there was only one room available that has a microwave and fridge on the third floor with a king size bed.  I really wanted to queens or two full size beds.  I said to her that I will take the other room if I get a second clean blanket.  I need my own comforter.  She did give it to me.  Brand new comforter and Sheet.
All in all, the new room isn't so bad, and most of all NO BUGS!  The sheets are clean and so is the bathroom.  The rest I can deal with.
Today Kia experienced her first day in her new stroller and it went pretty well.  We took a walk to a mall that is only 0.5 mile away.  More or less to find out what is nearby.  Lots of stores and eateries.
