A wonderful surprise

The day started out normal.  A lazy Saturday, with no cooking, just subs.  We came back from getting the subs and there was this guys with a dog that looked like Dan and Zoey.  Peter said nah….that’s the neighbor and their doodle.  I said nah….the neighbor is bold, that is Dan!  So he was and the girls were in the bathroom of the campground.  Paulette, Keith and Emelina were there too.  I was thrilled!  I love surprises like that.  Needless to say that we all went to Knoebels and had a great time.  We left about 7:30pm to go back to the camper while everyone else stayed.  It was just awesome!  Made my day. Smile

Another dinner

Courtesy of Blaise Alexander once again.  As always, it was awesome, but too much and we HAD to order the cheese cake for dessert.

New tires

Went to the dealer today to get the new tires that we knew we’d have to get when we bought the truck.  We really like the Blaise Alexander dealership.  While there, we told them that there was a weird smell and it came from the brakes.  Even though we didn’t get warranty with the truck because it is used, they will replace the "Brake Caliper" at no cost to us.  There were new brake pads installed and other maintenance items were done just before we purchased the truck.  They could very easily said that the "Brake Caliper" is not covered.  So far, we are very please with the dealer and we would recommend it highly.
While waiting, we visited the farmer’s market across the street.  Unfortunately we couldn’t purchase anything, but we will go back next Wednesday to take ‘stuff’ home.  Oh, if you are wondering about the sign, it was in the bathroom of the farmer’s market and I thought it was pretty funny.

While exploring Centralia, we spoke to one of the six remaining residents.  It was a very interesting conversation.  I wished I knew his name.
Please go to this link, I promise it is very interesting, there are several pages, make sure you read them all:
The following is taken from Wikepedia:
Centralia is a borough and a near-ghost town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. Its population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 10 in 2010 as a result of the Centralia mine fire that has been burning beneath the borough since 1962. Centralia is the least-populated municipality in Pennsylvania.
Centralia is part of the Bloomsburg-Berwick micropolitan area. The borough is completely surrounded by Conyngham Township.
All properties in the borough were claimed under eminent domain by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1992 (and all buildings therein were condemned), and Centralia's ZIP code was revoked by the Postal Service in 2002.  State and local officials reached an agreement with the remaining residents on October 29, 2013, allowing them to live out their lives there, after which the rights of their properties will be taken through eminent domain.

Lazy day today…went to Boyers to get coffee…(can’t be without coffee in the morning..EVER!) then corn from the farm and that’s it.  Didn’t even sit out much.  At night I walked around the lake and found some frogs.

Petra’s visit

We had a wonderful time with Petra, Marcel and Ava.  Ava was a last minute self-invitation.  Can’t say no when a grandchild wants to come to us. LOL
The first day we went to Knoebels and then back to the camper to roast some hot dogs and marshmallows.  It was nice, especially watching Ava and Marcel having fun with roasting marshmallows over the fire.
It was cloudy the next day and the said it’s going to rain.  We were pretty lucky.  It was fine when we visited Hickory Run State Park.  Ava and Marcel sure enjoyed the field of boulders.  Every time we go there we are amazed.
After that, we went to the concession stand to get a bite to eat.  Big disappointment….it was closed.  Our stomachs were growling.  We decided to treat for pizza and went to Sunbury to Guizi’s, our very favorite pizzeria.  On the way there is started pouring cats and dogs.  It did stop when we got to Guizi’s and once again we were not disappointed.  The kids had pizza and Peter and I ate a calzone.
It was almost time to hit home, but not without a quick stop to the Shikellamy Outlook.  One of the most beautiful scenic views I have even seen is from the top of Blue Mountain in Union County, Pennsylvania.  Words cannot explain the views from here.  Photos can show it but being there and experiencing this breathtaking view is the best way.
On the way home a quick stop
at Kohls and Target.  That is how the day went.
The next day everyone left and we said out good byes.  I hope everyone had a good time.

Tammy’s 47th Birthday

We all had a great time.  The kids were too cute and entertained everyone.  Dan grilled shrimp and meat shish kebabs, London broil, hamburgers and hot dogs.  The side dishes were delish.  Tammy’s cake was an ice cream cake and probably 10,001 calories, but who cares it was yummy!

A day at the pool

I had a great time with Elisabeth and Luke at the pool.  Just too bad that I didn’t feel good and that is why I didn’t go in.  Besides, I don’t have a decent bathing suit.  It is probably time, that I buy a new one next year.

Oh deer

Just wanted to post this picture from our backyard.

We had a real nice dinner and get-to-gether over Tammy’s.   The cooks (Anna and Dan) out-did themselves.  Petra’s son Marcel is here for a visit and Danielle and John came over too.  Everyone had a good time.
