It was a lot better than the one we went to in Catawissa a few weeks ago. Quite a few vendors and many food stands. The car show wasn’t too bad either. It’s just too bad that it was over cast and right after we got back, it started pouring.

I can’t believe that our time here in PA is almost over. We had a great summer and now that we have only a few weeks left, I am also glad to be home again. There is always next year……

What a gorgeous day! We took a little ride to have a calzone at our favorite pizza place, but they were closed. So we went to the outlook and back home for grilled sausage, potato salad, and corn on the cob.

Today we only were about an hour and a half at Knoebels because Tammy and Dan were here to pick up the girls. Tammy and Dan rented a campsite at Lake Glory next door. Unfortunately, J&D’s campground doesn’t allow tents and just like Dennis and Chrissy, Tammy and Dan decided to come with a tent instead of their trailer.

Penn’s Cave – as always – was great. The trip was longer than I remembered, but the last time we went there it was from Sunbury and not from Elysburg. We drove a good hour and a half. It was worth it though. We ended the day with a little campfire.

We had fun at the park today. The field of boulder is just awesome. It was Peter and mine second time there. The girls went in the lake after we left the field. It was a little chilly, but it was great anyway.

Elisabeth spent the day with us today and we had a great time….from visiting the Popcorn Park Zoo, to doing a make-over, playing shoots and ladders, coloring and watching Monster High….dinner at the Chinese buffet. We had so much fun!

Tammy’s birthday this year was just a little dinner at the Acme Draft House. It was nice and the food was good. We went home pretty much right after that. Tammy celebrated Saturday already with Dennis and Chrissym, as well as the kids. They all went canoeing and had a great time. We were still in PA.

We went to see what they had to offer. It was small but nice enough for a little town like Catawisssa. It starts at 4:30PM but not much was ready, except most of the food stands…do I wish we didn’t eat at home already! Potato pancakes and Haluski! It looked good too! We just walked around once and went back to the car.
I ran into a ground hog. If you look close you can see him in the last picture. After that a stop at Weiss super market for some Friendly ice cream 2/$5! Not a bad deal and it was so good!

We had an exciting day today. We went to see a B17 land in Sunbury. To learn more about why, please read article below, taken from the daily Item:
Northumberland says a final goodbye to military hero Theodore “Dutch” VanKirk today, with flags continuing at half mast in the borough until 6 p.m.
A World War II B-17 bomber flying out of Cleveland, Ohio will time its arrival to 12:30 p.m., and make two flyovers at 1,000 feet over the Riverview Cemetery burial site at precisely the time when VanKirk is being interred, said Northumberland Mayor Len Zboray.
The actual service is not open to the public, at the request of family members who asked for privacy at the gravesite.
After the flyover, the B-17, The Memphis Belle, will land at about 12:45 p.m. at Sunbury Airport on Packer Island, where members of the Liberty Foundation will conduct free tours of the plane until 6 p.m.
The Packer Island airstrip is where VanKirk landed 70 years ago, when he returned home from World War II
