Memorial BBQ 2011-05-29 007

What a great little BBQ with our neighbors yesterday.  Actually, I call them neighbors, but they are more than that.  We became a nice little group of friends.  All of usually try to get together once a month or so….always fun, good times and excellent food.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and Judy’s delicious shrimp kebabs.  It was all good.  Peter did the grilling and everyone brought a dish and as always……way too much food.

30 years……

We had a wonderful visit with friends yesterday with friends we haven’t seen in about 30 years.  It was like old times…we chatted, we laughed over we reminisced.  The good part was, I didn't tell Peter that Lydia and I arranged this visit on Facebook.  His jaw dropped when they arrived yesterday.  Thanks, Lydia and Bob for coming for a visit and hopefully it won’t be the last time.Lydia and Bob (2)Lydia and Bob (3)

Luke’s 5th Birthday Party

It was fun!  I had a pretty good day and therefore was able to enjoy Luke's special day as much as all the other guests.  We left around  6:30 pm, just in time because my shoulder started hurting again.  It sucks, but what am I complaining for….after all, it does get better every day.  Anyway, the kids had a great time bowling and enjoyed pizza and cake.
After bowling, the family and some close friends went to the house and we had hamburgers, hot dogs and London broil with potato and macaroni salads.  Good food, excellent company and a great way to end a day. Luke's 5th Birthday 2011-05-22 097

Peter started to fix my room

I am so excited…we went and bought paint and now my room gets started.  I call it my room, because this is where I had my office.  If you remember, I posted pictures from before (yikes!!)and now it is going to be just a little sitting room.  Kind of like a retreat.  I am going to find the most comfortable chair or loveseat available.  Can’t wait to shop for furniture for this room.  Just in case some of you are wondering about me having my very own room……. Peter’s room is our second bedroom.  He want to renovate it too, to make it more comfortable.  The spackling is is almost done and it’s already starting to look good! spackle the room 2011-05-20 001spackle the room 2011-05-20 002spackle the room 2011-05-20 004

It doesn’t end..

Since my problem also includes painful breathing, the Dr. sent me for a chest x-ray today.  Again, I was handed the paper with the diagnostic code.  This time it was 786.4, which means ‘abnormal sputum’.  I didn’t like the way it sounded, especially the word ‘abnormal’.  So I looked it up and it means that I have some kind of mucus that is coughed up.  I am NOT coughing – I have no mucus…I have horrible shoulder pains when I breathe or move the wrong way.  Gheez…I hate having health problems that can no be identified!
Now I have to wait for the Dr. to call me to hear what the next step is.

This old body is still in trouble….

So we got home on the 11th.  I had some pain in my left shoulder after the Myrtle Beach incident.  Over the camping weekend the pain got worse….almost to an un-bearable point.  Since then there were real bad days and a little better days in between here and there.   I went to the Dr. on the 17th and she sent me for cervical and shoulder x-rays.  She is off on Wednesdays, so I haven’t received any call yet.  I still hurt, but I am taking Aleve and that helps somewhat. A good friend of mine suggested that I have bursitis, but I can move my shoulder without pain and it hurts when I breathe, bend down to pick up something, lift my right leg and other movements. When I went to the x-ray place they gave me a paper that I was supposed to hand to the receptionist on my way out and on it where two diagnostic codes (I wrote them down), which one of them read:
721.1 Cervical spondylosis with myelopathy Anterior spinal artery compression syndrome Spondylogenic compression of cervical spinal cord Vertebral artery compression syndrome.  (YIKES!!!  The other was 719.41 which just means shoulder pain.  (I knew that!)
To make a long story short….I am getting frigging old and it sucks!

Weekend get-away….

Since I feel 99% better, Peter and I decided to take a short trip to South Jersey.  Tammy and Dan have a seasonal site at Turtle Run Campground and we decided to visit them.
Amazing how huge the sites are!  It is an older campground, nestled in the pines.  The owners purchased it totally run down 3 years ago and are fixing it up.  The store is very well stocked and they even serve food there.  The owner cooks.  Peter had a cheese steak sandwich….YUMMY!  Restrooms are clean and the showers are free.  I like it here…..oh, the pool is in the shape of a turtle.  The Playground is very nice as well.  The girls didn’t know we were coming, so they were surprised.  Glad we came.
There even is a BYB bar with a fire... imagine that…pretty cool.  The people seem nice too.  Good for Tammy, she’ll make a lot of new friends here.

Bad night…….

Had a bad night again last night, worse than the night that I spent in the ICU.  Since I know that my heart is just fine, I wasn’t worried so much, just that the pain was almost unbearable.  I slept in the passenger seat.  Couldn’t lay in bed.  Peter stayed in the driver’s seat and watched over me the whole night.  Today we went to Wally World and I bought an inhaler, Zyrtec, Gas-ex, and Aleve.  One of them should help.  Self-diagnosis is sometimes (don’t try that at home) the best way.  I came to the conclusion that the chest pain and the shortness of breath could be caused by an allergy against the pollen.  Still have some pain in my left shoulder.  The breathing is somewhat better and hopefully I can sleep tonight.  I guess I am going to see my Dr. when I get home.
Some random pics…kind of lost interest in shooting pictures for a while….took these at the park and on the way home.

ICU

Miss me?  I spent almost two days in the ICU of Grand stand regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.  Horrible chest pain and shortness of breath.  EKG was funky so the did a heart catheter.  Didn’t show anything.  I was sent home with an anti biotic prescription.  The pain is still there and I am totally exhausted. Will continue blog when feel better.

Got the feet done…

We had another great day.  High in the 70ties, no humidity.  Loved it.  Judy and I thought is was time to be pampered a little and went to get a pedicure.  It felt good and the feet are all ready for the summer and the sandals.  For dinner we had sauerkraut with pork and mashed potatoes and at night we sat by the fire and enjoyed some  more relaxation.

Day five at North Myrtle Beach

Today we too a ride to North Myrtle Beach, had some lunch at this ‘dive’ as Paul calls it and enjoyed the area.  Back home, just in time for cocktail hour and dinner over our place.  Potato salad and curry brats.North Myrtle Beach 2011-05-01 016
