Oh well…..

I wanted to make my blog private so that certain lurkers can’t drop in anymore, but I’d only punish the readers that are my friends.  That is why I made the blog public once again.
Lurkers are people that come in just to be nosy and never talk to you otherwise.
Friends come, look and once in a while you get a call or a message from them.

Ava’s 6th Birthday

We had a great time at Ava’s Birthday.  Hard to believe that this little princess is six years old.  Unfortunately, we had to leave early, because we had to get up at 4 am the following morning to drive to Danville, PA for Peter’s cancer treatment.  This time it was a little easier for him.  First of all, because there weren’t 4 tries to get in the catheter….one try and it was in.  They also lowered the strengths of the infusion.  So he is doing much better this week. One more treatment next Thursday and that will be it for the next 6 months.

Nothing much going on….

Just to keep up-to-date.  Peter is feeling somewhat better and he is not looking forward to Thursday, when the next treatment is due.  Can’t wait until the whole thing is over for him.
Kia got a hair cut and once again looks like a poodle.  For all of you that tell me that this is a stupid cut for a Shih Tzu….all I can say….’oh well, I like it and it is MY dog…..’  LOL

Geisinger Hospital

Peter started his second round of BCG treatments.  Two more weeks to go and then, I believe he has one more round to go in six months from now.  We left the house 5:10 am and got there around 9: 20 am.  The treatment goes as follows:
First a urine test it done to rule out any infection in his body.  Then the BCG infusion is made.
BCG stands for Bacillus Calmette-Guerin.  It is often used as a vaccine against tuberculosis, and it is made from an attenuated strain of the bovine tuberculosis bacteria.  What this means is that it is a lave bacteria that has been specially cultured for years to weaken it, which makes it unable to cause tuberculosis in humans.  This weakened bacteria is, however, able to cause the body to generate an immune system response.  In addition to its use as a vaccine for tuberculosis, BCG is also used as a treatment for bladder cancer.  In these cases, it is administered via a urinary catheter and is introduced into the bladder.
They gave him a stronger dose this time and as usual, every person has different reaction to certain things.  Peter’s is not feeling well at all after this treat

While Peter was being treated, I took a ride with Kia to the Shikellamy State Park, near the campground at which we had a seasonal site for three years.  We took a nice little walk and on the way back to the hospital, I stopped at the Surplus store for some rolled butter and my favorite cooper cheese.

Anna’s 11th Birthday

I can’t believe that our little Anna turned 11years old today!  We had a great birthday party with good friends and family.  The food was delicious and plenty.  I also finally got to meet Black Pearl, the new addition to the family.  Pearl is actually Kia’s niece.  She is Dennis and Chrissy’s new little puppy, a Portuguese Waterdog. Going home…..

Like anything else, this trips came to an end as well.  I took some misc. pictures on the way home.  We are not quite settled yet, but most of the camper stuff is unpacked.  Kia went nuts as soon as she was in the house.  I really had the feeling that she was happy to be home.St. Augustine, Fl

Too cold to do anything

We really haven’t done much in the last couple of days.  Just relaxing and walking a little around here.  It’s in the fifties and I know, we shouldn’t complain….it could be worse, but we are in Florida and I really wish it would be a little warmer.  Two days ago, we made some chicken kebabs.  We made enough so that we ad leftovers.  They were real good!
After dinner we opened the gift basket we got from Lazydays for dessert.  Good stuff!  Lindt chocolate truffles, crackers & cheese, chocolate covered pretzels and two bottles of wine.
Best chicken kibabs ever!Today we took a walk on the beach.  I so wished it would be warmer, but it was still nice anyway.DSC_0067

Enjoying 75 degrees in February

Today was absolutely gorgeous.  We didn’t want to go any place….just stay here and relax.  We walked one of the trails and enjoyed the pretty park.  It is unbelievable what you get for your money when you camp in a state park verses a commercial campground.  Not only is it half the price, but the campsites get cleaned up after each use and no-one runs around with a blower making the inside of your camper all dusty.  They actually rake the sites each time.  The sites very spacious and far apart from each other.  I took pictures of some empty site, you’ll see what I mean when you see them.DSC_0011

One more nice day

I guess that was it for a while.  It’s supposed to be raining for the next 4 days.  That really stinks, but it still beats the ugly storms up north.
We went to the historic section of St. Augustine today and the fountain of youth.  We’ve seen all this before, but it is always nice to see it again.  We then went back to the campsite to sit outside a little while, because who know when we can do this again in the near future.
