We left as we do every year for the past 5 years or so on the 27th of December.  First stop was in Emporia VA.  We used to over night at the Wal-Mart there, but the last few years it just go too cold.  So we stayed at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Emporia.  We were already please last year and we decided to stay there again.  The campground is clean and the sites are spacious and even.  It was kind of weird that there was a little cemetery close to our campsite.  It fascinates me how here in this area as well as in SC and NC they have gravesites right on their own property.

We left this morning around 9 AM and got here to Darien GA at 6 PM.  It was a horrible ride.  Lot’s of stop'n go traffic jams.  We would have been here at least an r hour or so earlier.  We will be staying here in Georgia one more night so that Peter can take his time getting the camper ready for our stay at Collier Seminole S.P. in Naples Fl. on Friday.  I won’t have Internet there, so check in for another report in a couple of days.

Merry Christmas

We spent Christmas Eve over Tammy and Dan’s with the whole family.  That is what we usually do and Christmas day Peter and I are alone and usually end up eating Chinese food. (The Chinese places around here are  the only eateries that are open on Christmas Day)
We packed most of the stuff into the RV today and tomorrow is the rest going in.  We are leaving on Tuesday to take in the sun in Florida.  The last few years we were in Florida, we experienced some colder weather than usual.  I think that I plan on going away in May next time, if it is that cold again.  We were in Florida in May once and even though it was pretty hot, it was gorgeous.  The gulf was warm as a tub of water and flowers where blooming everywhere.
Here are some pictures from last night:Christmas Eve 007

Radio City Music Hall

Ever since we came to the US, my wish was to see the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall.  Today I finally saw the show.  It was spectacular.  The colors, the scenery, and the Rockets…..awesome.
We went to SPQR on Mulberry Street to have lunch.  The lunch was very good and we all left full and satisfied.  All together a great day.

Campground owners are friendly after all…

If you remember what I wrote last August, you’ll remember that wonderful campground that we visited in Vermont.  It was by far the most well kept campground we ever visited, that’s for sure and I certainly would love to go back there one day.  To our surprise we received a Christmas card from them today.  Of course it was more and less for advertisement, but it sure made us very happy and brought back the memory of the good time that we had at their campground.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Danielle and John’s house

We invited to come over Danielle and John’s place for an after Thanksgiving party.  Most of John’s side of the family was there and we had a real great time.  Danielle and John made us feel very welcome. Thanks to both of them for having us at their house.  Plum and Cooper were visiting from Pennsylvania.  Plum is the big dog and the little cutie’s name is cooper. DanielleParty 008

Celebrating Peter’s 69th Birthday

We had a very nice time.  Dan and Tammy belong to the Elks and we were able to have a great dinner at the club.  To top it off, they had a band playing.  The music was real good and we had a very nice time.  On the way home I had Peter stop the car so that I could take a picture of the Toms River by night. Animals and stuff

This morning we saw a whole bunch of vultures in the back of our property at Silver Ridge.  I couldn't see what they were eating, because it was too far away.  I took the pictures with my 300mm lens.
Where is the food
Hiding behind the tree
 I'm outta here

In the afternoon we went shopping and I saw a huge buck with big antlers jumping out on the road, hitting a car.  It went over the car and I am sure there was some damge done.  The buck landed on the road, got up and ran away.  I was so happy that the deer made it.  However, I felt bad for the driver of the car.  The damage must have been pretty bad.

Fun day at our camera club

Most people know that I have joined a camera club that Ron opened here in our club house. We get together once a months for a meeting and another day each month we meet for a photo shooting at parks, or any place that is interesting enough for a few good shots.  I am not going to post pictures of our members in my blog, but I would like to show you the picture they took of me….not too bad for an old bag….LOL

Trick or treat!

We went to Tammy and Dan’s house for the Trick or Treating stuff.  There was much too much food, but it was soooo good, especially Tammy’s chili.  Yum!  The baked Ziti was good too.  We were outside most of the time, but then is got a little too cold and Melissa and I went inside to have the Ziti and some Shiraz.  Had fun with the treat or treaters too, but missed my two little grandkids Luke and Elisabeth. click here

Halloween Party at HCB

I tried having fun…really!  If it wouldn’t have been for our neighbors that were sitting with us at the table, I would not have enjoyed the chamber music that the DJ played and sang.  What the hell was the matter with that DJ?  I had more fun at the Silver Ridge party. click here

Spooky day….

We went to see three Halloween parades today.  The first one was at Luke’s school at 9:30 am….YIKES!  Much too early for us, but we did make it on time.  Luke was a Ninja in the red costume.   Then off to run a few errands and WaWA for a cappuccino.  Next parade is Anna’s at 11:30 am.  Anna Banana was….yup, a banana.  Next parade at !:45 PM at Ava’s school  We were on time after a few shopping trips and a Subway lunch to see the little devil Ava.  Throughout all this our Kia came with us and she probably was wondering why we went to three different schools in one day.  It was fun and at night Peter stayed home so that I could go to watch Luke and Elisabeth, while their parents are enjoying an adult Halloween party. click hereimage image 010

Another great day at Double Trouble.

We went for another photo shoot at Double Trouble State Park.  What a perfect day for picture taking!  We also found that cemetery that people are talking about.  It is called “Crabbe Family Cemetery” and we took quite a few pictures once again.  Love my hobby! click here

What a day!

After we dined at P.F. Chang’s, shopped at Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Wegman’s, I came to the conclusion, that we here in Toms River must live like people in a third world country. For heaven’s sake…what the hell is wrong with the picture!? Why don’t w. e have stores like this in our area? The garbage that they sell in stores here, are almost unbelievable/un-acceptable compared the high quality food people are able to purchase in the above mentioned stores. It makes me sick to even think about it. It is too bad that these nice stores are over an hour away from home and we can’t go there on a regular basis. Please take your time and look at the pictures and by all means….while you look….don’t drool all over your keyboard!

Photo shoot for October

We wen to take pictures at Berkeley Island Park, William Dudley Park and Double Trouble.  I am not very happy how the pictures came out today.  I just couldn’t find anything good.  We still had a good time anyway and even if I didn't get great pictures….it’s always a great experience. click here

Priscilla, the queen of the desert

WOW….by far the best Broadway play I have seen in a very long time.  Priscilla Queen of the Desert tells the story of Tick, Bernadette and Adam, a glamorous Sydney-based performing trio who agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback. They hop aboard a battered old bus (nicknamed Priscilla) searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they ever could have dreamed.
‎"Now listen here you mullet. Why don't you just light your tampon and blow your box apart? Because it's the only bang you're ever gonna get Sweetheart!"~Bernadette~ The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Dessert
A true ‘feel good’ show.
After the play we went to eat dinner at the Salmon River Restaurant.  The food was good and we all had a great time.

Olive Garden and my new dishes

Got new dishes today.  For years now I am eyeing these square dishes and I also have been searching for a design that I like. Good old Kohls has one that I like and with the 30%off and Kohls Cash back….how can I go wrong?  I unpacked the very well packed dishes, yet….even though they did a great packing job, there was one broken luncheon plate.  I called Kohls and they told me to destroys the plate, keep the rest of the dishes and I will get another set at no extra cost to me.  Now THAT is customer service….got to love Kohls!!Chrissys Birthday 2011-10-06 001
Got an e-mail from Kohls that thew now want me to send back the dishes.  Huh???  After I destroyed the box?  I wrote to them the the box is gone and I don't know how to send it back to them without the box.
Here goes my opinion about their customer service, I guess...I will keep you up-to-date...

We celebrated Chrissy’s birthday today in the Olive Garden restaurant.  It was as good as always and besides the food, we had a good time and enjoyed being together with the family.

HCB Shareholder’s Meeting

The meetings always get me so mad….there are a bunch of BODs sitting on the stage.  Yes, they are volunteers…..but for heaven’s sake, if you don’t want to do shit, don’t volunteer!!  Just to be on a major power trip doesn’t help the development.
We are seniors from 55 years of age to possible 100 years of age, living in a development that was built just for people like us.
At yesterday’s board meeting we were told to pay attention any to any suspicious people that walk the streets in our development and if anyone looks like they may not belong here, we should stop them and ask what they are doing here, where do they live, etc., and even go as far as asking them for an ID or the badge. SAY WHAT????? For sure….I am going to stop one of these hoodlum drunks that hang around here.  Yeah, right!
Anyway, after the meeting our friend and neighbor invited us over for drinks.  We stayed until about 11pm.  It was nice….thanks, Judy!!  My camera body Ron was there too.
