Dinner for two….

Peter and I went to Costco on Saturday and bought two fresh turkeys at 49 cents a pound.  One went into the freezer and the other one was in the oven 12 hours later.  Great dinner…stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, spaghetti squash and a good Shiraz.  Life is good.  Not to forget all the leftovers for the rest of the week. Thanksgiving 2010

Dennis and Chrissy out-did themselves once again.  The dinner was yummy and the hors d'oeuvres were awesome!  Calamari, shrimp, fish cakes (the best!!) and deep fried fish nuggets from the catch (striper) of the day by Dennis.  Desserts - too many goodies!  All delicious.
The kids were all cute and Chrissy’s brother and sister-in-law brought their new, very cute little baby boy.

My Review of Lowepro Passport Sling Camera Shoulder Bag Mica

Originally submitted at SellNSend

The Lowepro Passport Sling is for those who need tons of flexibility in a small compact bag. Lowepros Passport Sling is designed for todays photo enthusiasts who want to carry an equal amount of camera and personal gear as they sightsee, travel or go out for a walk with their DSLRs . Its unique ...

Needs a little re-designing.

Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, Strong Construction, Well Padded, Easily Accessible Equipment
Cons: Camera pocket too small
Best Uses: Transporting Gear, Daily Usage
Describe Yourself: Photo Enthusiast
Was this a gift?: No
I love the bag. It's comfortable to carry and it doesn't really look like a camera bag, which makes it nice when traveling.
I have a Nikon D3100 and department where the camera goes in, could be a little larger, it fits, but it's tight. My 70-300mm lens doesn't fit in the compartment, but there is room for it on the side and since it's in it's own padded pouch, it's fine. I also fit my mono pod inside and there is still room for my wallet, sun glasses, batteries, etc. All in all....I like it a lot!

Pressure cooker update:

I love it!!!  Is the easiest pressure cooker I have ever owned or even seen.  I don't regret the purchase.  Put the stuff in...turn it on...never watch the little giggler like on the old pressure cookers.
I am going to put my Presto pressure cooker on Craig's List today. :-)

A day in the city

Peter and I took a little trip to New York City today.  The weather was perfect for it.  We took the bus from Toms River ($17.50 round trip for seniors).  It was very convenient and easy.  We bought the tickets two days prior and we took the 7:15 am express bus.  We had to go to the German consulate which is located on 1st Avenue, right passed the United Nations between 48th and 49th St.  It was a nice walk from the Port Authority, about a mile and a half.  I promised myself that I will repeat this trip in spring.  Peter hates the city, so he’ll just have to baby-sit Kia and off I go….. LOL

Birthday, new stove….

Peter’s birthday was nice yesterday and we had a good time.  Got these Breaded Onion Petals w/Aussie Sauce from BJ’s.  They came with a sauce that tasted like the one at the Outback for the Blooming Onion  and it was real yummy! For dinner we ordered pizza.  Peter wanted cheese cake as his birthday cake, so that is what he got.  It was good.  Good food and better company….life is great.20101119_13BTW…I got my new stove last Saturday and it is wonderful.  I love it an I am glad that I got it.20101116_10Also, I got a new pressure cooker.  Years ago, I used one a lot, but the one I have is not good for an electric stove.  The pressure cooker that I bought now, is one that is independent with it’s own power cord.  Can’t wait to use it!  Now I will sell my old one on Craig's ListP11406385[1]
I almost forgot…when there are deer passing by  in our backyard, our little Kia loves watching them and tries to get their attention by barking.  Of course it works and she will get their attention, but they just look over like they would say: “So, what do you want you little squirt?”  It’s still cute though….

Our weekend…

The weather couldn’t have been any better.  Peter took a ride to the camper on his bike….yes, it is true!

At night we had another very nice get-to-gether with neighbors.  Everyone brought a dish and the food, including desert.  The food was great and so was the company.

Sunday was a good day.  First we went to see Anna play soccer and in the afternoon we went over Dennis and Chrissy’s to watch Iron Man 2.  Luke is a great fan of Iron Man.  We spent a wonderful time together.   Dennis and Chrissy invited us over for a great dinner with fresh caught striper , fresh asparagus and a garden salad.  Delicious20101114_12

Bikes

Peter was busy this week…he cleaned all our bicycles -  4 of them.  My Hampton Cruiser got new tires and tubes and his bike just the tubes.  Can’t wait to be able to ride again.  I am still afraid to leave the house for a longer period of time, because of my Salmonella poisoning.  I will ride around the block a few times, but longer rides aren’t possible yet.  Peter got to ride his bike after he put in the new tubes.

The dress

When I was a little girl, my mom knitted dress for me.  It was royal blue with white hearts.  When my daughter was born, I asked my mom if she could knit the same dress for Tammy.  My mom did and Tammy wore it proud.  I saved it all these years and then I gave it to Tammy for her daughter.  When Anna was big enough, she wore it and Tammy went to the photographer and had her picture taken in it.  5 years later, Ava was born and needless to say that Tammy repeated the 'dress rehearsal' and again, with our little Elisabeth.

20101107_65We also went to see Anna play soccer again.  She was awesome!  It was pretty cold.  Glad I had gloves and Ava got daddy’s gloves.

Charlene at the Atlantic Ocean

We had a wonderful time with Charlene.  She sure brought some sunshine from California to New Jersey.  We went to Island Beach State Park.  Great place to visit.  We even saw a fox.

Lunch was delicious, company was great – almost a prefect day if we wouldn’t have to go to a viewing the same night.  It was so sad.  Kevin, the son of a friend….only 23 years old.  Rest in Peace Kevin.
