Trick or Treat

Had a great time today watching the kids go ‘Trick or Treat”.  Anna’s friend Alexa and Mari came along and they all had a great time.

Peter and I went home earlier and relaxed at home with a cup of tea.  It was a little chilly outside, but the sun was out and that made it a real nice autumn day.
Can’t wait now until tomorrow when our friend Charlene is coming to visit us.  She is here from California and I know that we are going to have a good time.

Halloween Parade

We went to see Ava at her school.  Every year they have a Halloween  parade.  For the past four years we went to see Anna there.  She left that school and spends her 5th and 6th grade in a school down the road in Bayville.   So the tradition continues now for the next 5 years (including today) with Ava.  She looked real cute in her little witch costume.

Our busy life….

There are never enough hours in the day for us.  If one more senior tells me again that he/she is bored, or if anyone even says to me me ‘you are retired, you have all the time in the world!’, I think I may slap them right in the face or kick their ass!
We are back home for a months now and there wasn’t a single day yet on which we could just ‘hang’ and do nothing.  I am not complaining, but between doctors appointments, other responsibilities, getting the camper ready for the winter, etc.  we have no time left to just chill.  Hopefully, once the camper is all done being winterized, fixed and maintained to be ready for the next season, we can sit back and breathe.
Last week was very busy, but also very nice…..first we had Ava here.  Poor baby was sick with bronchitis and because mom works now, we ended up taking care of her.  She is fine now and back to school.  This past Monday and Tuesday we took care of Luke and Elisabeth and, because Chrissy’s aunt Ruthie passed away.  We had a great time with the two little ones.
Come back later to see our Ava’s first Halloween parade at her school.  We are going there later this afternoon and I plan on taking pictures.

I hope he rots in prison, the pig!

A guy, that was a fellow camper at Fantasy Island Campground, was arrested for child porn.  Hopefully he gets put away for a long time.   That just goes to show you that these sick people show up anywhere.
This could happen at any campground, and hopefully every family oriented campground screens their new seasonals very thoroughly before allowing them in.

Looking back…….

Looking back at our past year of camping as a seasonal camper makes me sad.  When we first decided that we wanted to be a ‘seasonal’, the decision was based on all the wonderful people we met at the campground.  The second reason was the area.  I love the rolling hills, the river, as well as the surrounding towns like Lewisburg, Danville, Selinsgrove, etc.
Peter and I were pretty much ‘gung-ho’ when it came to partying, cocktail hours, playing dice at the tiki bar, pot-luck dinners….you name it, we did have fun.

Things at the campground didn’t go well this past year though.
Good friends of ours left the prior season, because they felt that they were not treated with respect and other friends decided this year that they won’t come back for similar and other reasons, like changes in policies, attitude, etc.
One couple left because they moved out of state, but there was a monetary discrepancy.
Also, to me it looked like if you don’t ‘mingle’ or come to any of the events, you are shunned.  Just a little example, when I left the tiki bar before the game was over, (just because I was tired and wanted to go to my camper) I was asked: “What, are we turning into a pumpkin now?”  It was not the first time comments like this were made.  I always felt guilty not coming to an event, so in order to stop all comments, I didn’t attend anything anymore.  It was too bad, because a lot of our friends attended the events and we didn’t go.  Instead, we were hanging out with other friends that felt like I did, or we just sat in front of our camper by ourselves.

There were many, many other things that happened throughout this past season and friends that we thought are ‘lifetime’ friends, turned out to be not friends at all.  Thank God the majority still are our friends and I am grateful for it.

Why did I write this?  Because I felt I had to and this is the last time I will mention this past season, unless it’s something positive or anyone adds a comment.
I didn’t mention any names, but most people will recognize what I am talking about.

Sunday, October 24th

We had a great breakfast today.  I made omelets with peppers, mushrooms and onions.  Did it a little different this time.  I beat the yolks with a little milk, and whipped the whites separately.  Once they where stiff, I folded them into the egg yolk mixture.  The omelets were very fluffy and big.  No need for lunch today. LOLomelet

Dennis' Birthday

Had a nice time over at Dennis' and Chrissy's house to celebrate our son's birthday.
Happy Birthday, Dennis!
Kia was alone in the house and not locked up.  This is the first time that we left the house for several hours without locking her up.  Everything was fine when we got back.  What a good little dog we have!

On the soccer field

Today was another great Fall day.  We are being spoiled with this gorgeous weather and I hope we don't get punished for this in the winter.
We went to see Anna's soccer game against Lacey today.  Lacey won and they did play a great game.  Our girls tried really hard, but they lost again.  I do have to say that Anna was awesome today.  She gave it her all. You can see her on the pictures as #88.  Took these picture with my new lens.  Unfortunately, I should have too a took a tripod with me.  The field was huge and I pulled the players in all the way in with my new 55-300 mm lens.  Big mistake.  I guess I still have to learn a lot and most of all, remember to take my tripod!

70th Birthday of Tamar's mother-in-law

We went to a 70th Birthday party last night and it was very nice.  The food....WOW, too bad I can't eat as much as I used to.  Lot's of people, mostly relatives of Douggie.  Poor Tamar, she really has her work cut out today, cleaning up.  Douggie did an awesome job cooking and Tamar was a very gracious hostess.  She treats us like family and makes us feel very welcome.  Thanks for that Tamar, we love you!

Good times

We had a few busy days.  Thursday was Anna’s soccer game.  They lost, but it doesn’t seem to bother the girls at all.  They had fun and I guess that is all that counts…..although, I think that winning is fun too.

Spent Friday and most of Saturday much needed cleaning.  I don’t know what happened to me, I used to clean more often when I was younger.  Dust and fingerprints on mirrors and glass don’t bother me that much anymore.  Must be my sight…I have no other explanation. LOL
Saturday afternoon we had a pleasant surprise visit from Dennis, Luke and Elisabeth.  Chocolate milk and cake, laughs and good company….loved it!

Saturday night we had tickets to go to an oldies dance at Silver Ridge.  They had two good DJs, subs, soda, chips, coffee and dessert.  We were there with our group of friends and we had a great time.

Sunday was awesome too.  Our friend Mike came to visit us.  He lives in California and had business in New Jersey.  We were happy that he took the time to visit us.  We ended the day with a dinner at the Lobster ShantyThanks for your visit, Mike!

So what does one do on a rainy day....
For breakfast we had a huge Western Omelet.  I should make that more often, because it was very good.  I got to get myself an omelet pan, that's for sure.
The rest of the day I just futzed with my computer.  Did some Facebook, took care of my cafe and organized most of my photos for 2009 and 2010.  I also downloaded an upgrade from Corel for PaintShop Pro.  Can't wait for my new camera....
Made some tea from loose leaves, which tastes so much better than the tea made with tea bags and served it with home-made brownies.
This afternoon we are getting ready to go over Dennis and Chrissy's to celebrate Chrissy's birthday.

Floods and stuff

I read that there was a flood threat at the campground and that reminded me of the one in June of 2009.  The pictures below are from last year's flood.  I wonder if the water this year was high like what we saw in 2009.  It is amazing how strong a river can be......
